Voted the “Best Downtown Arts District” for three years running by Discover Jersey Arts, Red Bank is the crown jewel of the MoCo Arts Corridor, a cooperative effort to promote the many arts, cultural, and historic assets in Monmouth County, NJ.

It’s easy to see why. With over 20 galleries throughout its historic Victorian downtown, Red Bank offers a wide array of traditional and contemporary art. If you only have limited time to visit, here are four must-visit galleries.

Beacon Fine Arts Gallery

Beacon Fine Arts Gallery specializes in original art and sculpture from amazing international and national contemporary artists. You’ll find paintings in a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, encaustic, dry brush, watercolor, as well as drawings in graphite and encaustic. There are also fine art limited edition prints. If you’re more interested in sculpture, you’ll enjoy viewing their diverse inventory of hand-blown glass, ceramics, bronze, stone, and metal creations.

The owner, Dave Griswold, has worked with many of the world’s great artists over the last thirty years. In addition, Sharon Hathaway, Manager and Framer, has 25 years of experience in custom framing. Both Dave and Sharon can help you select art for your collection, as well as the frames that will complement, preserve, and enhance the artwork. As they note on their website, “Art collectors and enthusiasts are welcome to browse in a relaxed, helpful, and down-to-earth atmosphere.”

Asher Neiman Gallery

Asher Neiman Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery offering paintings, photography, hand-made jewelry, and sculpture. As the owner Emily Asher Neiman notes, “Our artist stable contains an ever-increasing variety of mediums and methodologies.” This gallery is also available as a meeting space for corporate events, nonprofit charities, film screenings, live music, and artist showcases.

Asher Neiman seeks to provide a consultative experience, creating deeper relationships with clients. Based on inquiries about certain artists or pieces, she’ll create a portfolio catered for your tastes and size specifications. If you’re located within four hours of Red Bank, she’ll even drive them directly to your home.

Chetkin Gallery

Chetkin Gallery is an international fine art gallery with a special emphasis on contemporary European painters. They display over four dozen renowned artists from France, China, England, Italy, Spain, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Holland, Ireland, and North America. You can browse two floors of paintings representing Classical Impressionism, Post Impressionism, and Contemporary Impressionism.

Since 1987, the owners, Carol Lynn and Donald Chetkin, have been assisting clients in acquiring the right painting for their art collection, whether first-time buyers or seasoned collectors. Adjacent to Chetkin Gallery is Chetkin Custom Framing, where you can find an outstanding selection of frames for your treasured piece.

The Art Alliance of Monmouth County

The Art Alliance of Monmouth County is the premier Central New Jersey showcase for traditional and nontraditional art. Since 1978, it has evolved into a 300+ membership organization representing a vast array of artistic disciplines. Their mission is to promote the advancement of the visual arts and provide exhibition, studio, and classroom space to local artists. Galleries include sculpture, painting, drawing, fiber, photography, collage, and digital art.

Their exhibitions are always changing, so you’ll be sure to find something new every time you go. As a Yelp reviewer aptly shared, “This is truly a co-op artist’s gallery. Each show is an eclectic mix of many styles and genres. The people involved are interested and form a hub of local creatives. They are welcoming and wonderful. Great place to show your work or buy affordable but quality art.”
