Terris Farmer was raised in rural Southern Chester County by her parents who taught her at a very young age to always work hard and strive for excellence. Terris excelled in grade school, graduating with honors at the top of her class, and earning a four-year full academic scholarship to Lincoln University, in Lincoln University, PA.
Terris went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Finance. Terris was inducted into Alpha Chi National Honor Society and was named in “Who’s Who in American Colleges and University” in 1983, Terris became a member of Delta Sigma Theta, a public service sorority, and served as Vice President during her junior and senior years at Lincoln.
In September of 1983, Terris began her Federal career as a contract specialist, negotiating high dollar value procurements for the former Aviation Supply Office in Philadelphia PA. A year later, while working full-time, Terris enrolled part-time at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA, pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Over the next seven years, Terris continued working and going to school part-time, and eventually met and married the love of her life, her husband Irvin. They reside in Hatfield, PA and have two wonderful children, Irvin, III age 24 and Jordan Danielle, age 20.
In May of 1994, Terris earned an MBA with a concentration in Management Information Systems. Having changed careers in 1986, Terris now enjoys 31 years of Federal Government employment and is the Director of Enterprise Web Infrastructure Support at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Enterprise Operations, at the Philadelphia Information Technology Center. Terris’ team consist of over 60 IT specialist contractor and full-time employees that maintain the VA’s Web Internet presence.
With retirement from her Federal career looming on the horizon, Terris is pursuing a second career in Real Estate sales. Terris joined Berkshire Hathaway Fox and Roach in April 2015, and is excited to bring the business skills and abilities she’s developed in her Federal career to her new career pursuit in Real Estate.
